Awareness workshop on Energy Management Systems and System Optimisation Adoption

Recently in Da Nang, a coastal city in the Central region, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) coordinated with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to organize an awareness workshop on Energy Management Systems and System Optimisation Adoption for 80 participants from MOIT, UNIDO’s IEEP project, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Science and Technology, Industry Promotion Centres, Energy Efficiency (EE) Centres of Da Nang, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and a large number of industrial enterprises (IEs) in the fields of steel, textile & garment, rubber, cement, food processing, beverages, seafood, paper and plastic.

The workshop provided important and useful information related to regulations on EE, energy management in IEs; the technical support and trainings provided by IEEP project to IEs to adopt EE solutions; financial support for EE investment projects provided by Vietnam Scaling up Energy Efficiency Project – VSUEE, funded by the World Bank; EnMS in line with ISO 50001-issues and opportunities; system optimisation – maximising  energy savings.

The participants also enjoyed the experience sharing session on the successful EnMS application of A Chau Architecture and Trade Co. Ltd, and spent time on discussing the challenges as well as to propose recommendations in implementing EE activities.

The workshop is an activity under the Project “Accelerating energy efficiency in large industries through energy management systems, system optimisation and the promotion and adoption of energy efficiency in SMEs” (IEEP) funded by the European Union, which is organised to raise awareness of energy management systems and system optimisation for industrial enterprises as well as to introduce the IEEP project’s training and technical assistance programs.
