On October 23, 2025, the Agency for Innovation, Green Transition, and Industry Promotion (IGIP) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized the workshop titled “Enhancing Awareness of Energy Management Systems and System Optimization” in Can Tho.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness of energy management systems and system optimization among industrial enterprises and to introduce training and technical assistance programs under the project “Accelerating energy efficiency in large industries through energy management systems, system optimization, and the promotion and adoption of energy efficiency in small and medium-sized enterprises” (IEEP Project). The IEEP Project is funded by the European Union (EU), managed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Ms. Pham Thi Nga, Technical Advisor of the IEEP Project, delivered the opening remarks.
The event was attended by representatives from the Centers for Industrial Promotion, Energy Efficiency, and Trade Promotion of Can Tho and Vinh Long, the Energy Management Division under the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho, along with nearly 60 delegates from enterprises operating in the steel, textile and garment, rubber, cement, food processing, beverage, seafood, paper, and plastic sectors across the Mekong Delta provinces.
Mr. Dang Hoang Tham, Director of the Can Tho Center for Industrial Promotion, Energy Efficiency, and Trade Promotion, delivered a speech at the workshop.
The workshop provided important and practical information on the latest regulations regarding energy saving and management in industrial enterprises; support mechanisms (particularly specialized training courses) offered by the IEEP Project to help enterprises implement energy-saving solutions; financial assistance for energy efficiency investment projects under the Vietnam Scaling Up Energy Efficiency Project (VSUEE) funded by the World Bank; key issues and opportunities of energy management systems under ISO 50001; methods for optimizing systems to maximize energy savings; and shared successful case studies of implementing energy management systems by NFC Food Co., Ltd.

Nearly 60 delegates representing enterprises in various industries, including steel, textiles, rubber, cement, food and beverage, seafood, paper, and plastics, participated in the workshop.
The event also served as an opportunity for organizations, institutions, and enterprises to further enhance their understanding of energy management systems and system optimization, recognize the benefits and available support when joining the project, and identify appropriate training and technical assistance programs tailored to their operations.

The next workshop on enhancing awareness of energy management systems and system optimization is scheduled to take place in Phu Tho on December 18, 2025, contributing to the project’s commitment to promoting the implementation of energy efficiency solutions in industrial enterprises.
