The 2023 earmarked the 15th year that the Ministry of Industry and Trade hosted the Earth Hour Campaign in Vietnam. Earth Hour is an annual international event initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in 2007 and Vietnam officially joined in response to this event in 2009. Earth Hour aims to raise awareness of the public about climate change and energy saving by encouraging households and businesses to turn off electric lights and unnecessary electrical equipment within 60 minutes.
Within the framework of the campaign, the R4EE is organised by the Office of the Steering Committee for Energy Efficiency in collaboration with Industry and Trade Magazine. With a distance of 5 km (equivalent to 3 rounds of Hoan Kiem Lake), the race attracted the participation of more than 1,000 professional and amateur athletes from units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and related ministries, agencies, national and international organisations, industry associations, businesses, jogging clubs, press agencies and a large number of people in the capital.
The Organizing Committee wishes that through this Race, the participants will not only be a part of this event, but will become ambassadors spreading the strong and vibrant spirit of the message “Save electricity – Make it a habit”, so that 365 days of the year are Earth Hour.
