Driving Process Heating System Optimisation for Southern Enterprises

Following the success of the training workshop in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade opened a two-day training course on process heating system optimisation on 15 September 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City. The event brought together a number of experts, managers and technical specialists representing institutions and industrial enterprises across southern Viet Nam.

This workshop is the capacity building activity under the project “Accelerating energy efficiency in large industries through energy management systems, system optimisation and the promotion and adoption of energy efficiency in small and medium-sized enterprises” (IEEP). The IEEP project is funded by the European Union, managed by Viet Nam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

The training course on process heating system optimisation took place in Ho Chi Minh City on 15-16 September 2026.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Hoang Viet Dung, a member of the Project Management Board under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said: “This training programme aims to provide practical knowledge as well as auditing and measurement tools for technical staff. This enables enterprises to proactively identify energy loss risks, directly design and implement optimisation solutions.”

Mr. Hoang Viet Dung, a member of the Project Management Board under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, delivered the opening remarks.

Mr. Dung also emphasised that expanding the training series across both the northern and southern regions serves as an important step toward strengthening a nationwide technical support network. This team will not only provide direct technical support to factories but also act as a core engine in spreading energy-saving solutions to achieve greenhouse gas emission reduction targets nationwide.

The Ho Chi Minh City course continued under the direct guidance of Mr. Veerasamy Venkatesan, an international energy consultant with over 42 years of field experience across more than 22 countries. Having advised multinational corporations and industrial facilities in heavy industries, including steel, cement, chemicals, paper, textiles, fertilizers and plastics, Mr. Venkatesan delivered practical insights tailored to day-to-day plant operations.

The class in Ho Chi Minh City continues to be directly led by Mr. Veerasamy Venkatesan, an international energy consultant.

The course recorded active participation from staff of the Startup and Innovation Hub of Ho Chi Minh City, the Energy Conservation Research and Development Center, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, as well as energy-intensive industrial enterprises across paper, rubber, fertilizer, chemical, cement, steel/metallurgy, food and beverage sectors from Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Gia Lai, Long An, and An Giang.

The training on process heating system optimisation held in September 2026 in Hanoi (Sept 10–11) and Ho Chi Minh City (Sept 15–16) marks the first dedicated module on this topic under the IEEP Project framework. Following the first module, another advanced module specifically tailored for expert teams is scheduled to take place in November 2026.
