Following the training course in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade continued its training programme on “Energy Auditing – Heat Integration Techniques” in Ho Chi Minh City from 7 to 9 October 2026.
This advanced training course is designed for MOIT-certified energy auditors who are working at energy auditing organisations, industrial promotion centers and universities in Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Thap, and Can Tho. The course aims to update participants’ technical knowledge, introduce modern methodologies and technical tools for conducting energy audits and identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency in enterprises.
Course participants were energy auditors certified by the MOIT.
The training course is part of the “Accelerating energy efficiency in large industries through energy management systems, system optimisation and the promotion and adoption of energy efficiency in small and medium-sized enterprises” project (IEEP). The IEEP project is funded by the European Union, managed by Viet Nam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
In his opening remarks, Mr. Dang Hai Dung, Deputy Director General of the Energy – Petroleum Agency, MOIT, highlighted the importance of the training course, particularly following the Ministry’s recent issuance of Circular No. 64/2026/TT-BCT. The new circular identifies energy auditing as one of the six mandatory components of the energy management model and sets out specific requirements regarding the procedures and timelines for conducting energy audits.
Mr. Dang Hai Dung, Deputy Director General of the Energy – Petroleum Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, delivering opening remarks at the training course.
Mr. Dung noted: “At present, energy optimisation and the green transition has become critical to improving enterprises’ competitiveness. This is particularly essential in the South, the country’s major industrial and processing hub, where there is an urgent need to optimise heating, thermal and cooling systems across sectors such as food processing, beverages, seafood and textiles. This training course provides an important foundation for energy auditors to better support industrial enterprises in recovering waste heat, improving energy performance, and contributing to reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.”
Mr. Richard Morrison and Mr. Colin Donohue, two extensively experienced international experts in energy management and auditing, delivering the training course.
Two senior international experts, Mr. Richard Morrison and Mr. Colin Donohue, served as the trainers for the course. With more than 20 years of hands-on experience in energy management, decarbonisation, and sustainable development, the experts provided in-depth insights and practical solutions to help participants confidently apply their knowledge in their day-to-day work.
The course equipped participants with essential knowledge and practical technical methodologies. The content included updates on government policies, Pinch Analysis in the food and beverage processing sector, advanced energy balance development, the design of heat exchanger networks (HEN), and the integration of industrial heat pumps. Participants also gained hands-on experience through specialised software exercises and practical field-based learning.
The course equipped participants with essential knowledge and advanced, practical technical methodologies.
In 2027, the IEEP Project will roll out further training courses on energy auditing to strengthen professional capacity and support enterprises in implementing energy efficiency solutions.
