The EU–Vietnam Business and Investment Forum, jointly organised by the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam, the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Finance, and the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham), will be held on March 24 in Hanoi under the theme “Global Gateway Strategy.”
As EU–Vietnam relations have recently been elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the forum conveys a message of investment cooperation for a sustainable future and serves as a key platform to promote high-quality capital flows.
According to the organisers, the event will be held at the Meliá Hotel and is expected to gather around 500 participants, including policymakers, representatives of Vietnamese government agencies, leaders of leading European corporations, and international financial institutions.
A highlight of this year’s forum will be the participation of EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Síkela as part of his official visit to Vietnam, along with Nicola Beer, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The programme will include a plenary session and a series of thematic discussions, creating opportunities for direct dialogue on the latest policy developments. Discussions will focus on key sectors that can act as drivers of Vietnam’s development, including sustainable transport, energy transition, infrastructure connectivity, and particularly the twin green and digital transformation.
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards will also feature prominently in discussions, with experts analysing how investment practices can be aligned with international standards.
Sharing the vision for the event, EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier said the Global Gateway Strategy demonstrates the EU’s commitment to building sustainable partnerships worldwide. In Vietnam, the EU prioritises supporting the country’s green and digital transition while promoting innovation to contribute to long-term economic growth.
Beyond theoretical discussions, the forum is expected to help address regulatory barriers and promote practical cooperation between the business communities of both sides.
Notably, the event will also place strong emphasis on supporting Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in connecting with potential international investors and partners, thereby facilitating capital flows and technology transfer.
At its core, the Global Gateway Strategy is an ambitious EU initiative aiming to mobilise up to EUR 300 billion in public and private investment between 2021 and 2027 to build green and clean infrastructure worldwide.
In Vietnam, the strategy is being implemented through investment commitments in clean energy and modern transport infrastructure, directly supporting the country’s low-emission development pathway and enhancing climate resilience.
Through strengthened cooperation at this forum, Vietnamese businesses are expected to gain greater opportunities to participate in global value chains and develop high-quality human resources. Registration for the event has now opened online and is free of charge.
