COMPETITION RULES & GUIDELINES

1. PURPOSE OF THE COMPETITION

WATT‘S UP is a youth-led communication competition under the EU – Viet Nam Sustainable Energy Transition Programme (SETP), aiming to:

Participants are encouraged to explore topics such as:

  • Nationwide competition across Viet Nam.
  • Campaigns shall be run on Facebook and/or Instagram.

3. PARTICIPANTS AND ELIGIBILITY

You can participate if you:

  • Are Vietnamese youth aged 18–25.
  • Are interested in energy, environment, climate, communication, or social media.

Team Requirements:

  • Teams of 3–5 members.
  • At least 1 female member.
  • No individual applications allowed.

4. COMPETITION STRUCTURE

The competition is implemented in three main phases:

5. WHAT PARTICIPANTS NEED TO DO

Each team must submit a Campaign Concept Note (using the template at this link) explaining:

  • Your idea and topic.
  • Target audience.
  • Key messages.
  • Content and communication plan.
  • Expected impact.

The Concept Note must:

  • Be clear, creative, and easy to understand.
  • Focus on one specific issue.
  • Encourage people to think, discuss, or act.

7. SELECTION AND EVALUATION

7.1. Concept Note Selection

All submissions will be evaluated based on:

  • Relevance of topic.
  • Understanding of the issue.
  • Creativity and clarity.
  • Feasibility.
  • Responsible communication.

Up to 5 teams will be selected for implementation.

7.2. Final Evaluation

Results are based on:

Online performance (30 points)

Reach (4-week total, all platforms; organic + paid):

  • Team with the highest reach: 30 points.
  • Team with the 2nd-highest reach: 25 points.
  • Team with the 3rd-highest reach: 20 points.
  • Team with the 4th-highest reach: 15 points.
  • Team with the 5th-highest reach: 10 points.

* Note: To receive points, each team must reach at least 1,000 people.

Jury evaluation (70 points)

  • Content relevance and accuracy.
  • Creativity and storytelling.
  • Impact and scalability.
  • Presentation (pitching).

8. AWARDS AND BENEFITS

Selected teams will receive:

  • Mentorship from energy and communication experts.
  • Support for campaign implementation (e.g., funding for social media boosting).
  • Trophies & Certificates from the EU Delegation.
  • Opportunity to participate in the briefing session and the Award Ceremony in Hanoi.

(Note: Only teams achieving a minimum score of 60/100 and not placed in the top three are eligible for consolation prizes).

9. RULES FOR CAMPAIGN IMPLEMENTATION

For selected teams:

  • All content must be approved before posting.
  • No changes allowed after approval.
  • Use only original or licensed content.
  • Follow responsible and respectful communication.
  • Campaigns run only during the official period.

10. RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARTICIPANTS

Participants must:

  • Follow all competition rules and guidelines.
  • Ensure accuracy and honesty in content.
  • Respect intellectual property and data protection rules.
  • Communicate in a respectful, non-harmful way.
  • Any violation may lead to disqualification.

11. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND DATA PROTECTION

Participants retain ownership of their work

By joining, participants allow organizers (EU and/or EVSET Facility) to:

  • Use and share content for communication purposes.
  • Personal data must:
    • Be used with consent.
    • Be handled responsibly and securely.

12. PAID PROMOTION SUPPORT

EVSET Facility will provide an equal advertising budget to all selected teams to help their campaigns reach a wider target audience.
