On June 18, 2024 in Da Nang, Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development (DEESD) – Ministry of Industry and Trade, IEEP-UNIDO Project Office, and Vietnam Standards and Quality Institute (VSQI) cooperated to organise a dissemination workshop on Vietnamese national standards (TCVN) on energy management.

The workshop aims to raise the awareness and promote the application of EnMS standards in organisations and businesses in Vietnam under the framework of the UNIDO Project “Accelerating energy efficiency in large industries through EnMS, system optimisation and the promotion and adoption of energy efficiency in SMEs (IEEP) funded by the European Union.

The workshop attracted 90 representatives from DEESD, IEEP-UNIDO Project Office, VSQI, experts specialized in standards, EnMS and energy efficiency, certification and energy management consulting organisations, and industrial businesses.

At the workshop, an overview of the national standards on EnMS and standard development plan until 2025; TCVN ISO 50001:2019 (ISO 50001:2018) and EnMS certification assessment process in accordance to ISO 50001:2019, and energy audit implementation in accordance to TCVN ISO 50002:2015 (ISO 50002:2014) was introduced to the audience. Two enterprises also shared their experience in building and applying EnMS, which were followed by a lively Q&A session.

With useful information provided to the industrial enterprises and related organisations on national standards for EnMS, requirements and benefits of adopting EnMS, the workshop is expected to facilitate and promote the application of energy management systems in organizations and businesses in Vietnam; towards achieving the national common goal of economical and efficient use of energy.
