Hanoi, 15 July 2026 – The Sustainable Energy Transition Youth Communication Competition (WATT’S UP) was launched today. The initiative is part of the Viet Nam – EU Sustainable Energy Transition Project (EVSET), under the Viet Nam – EU Sustainable Energy Transition Programme (SETP).
Under the theme “Let’s Talk Energy,” the competition aims to make conversations about energy more accessible, relatable, and engaging, led by young people, for young people, as “Green Energy Ambassadors.” WATT’S UP seeks to identify and support youth-led communication initiatives that raise public awareness of clean energy and energy efficiency, while inspiring practical actions that contribute to sustainable development and climate action.
The competition is open to teams of young people aged 18-25 from across Viet Nam. They are invited to submit concept notes by 16 August 2026 for innovative communication campaign ideas focused on topics such as renewable energy, energy saving, climate action, and how to remove myths and misconceptions about renewable energy and energy efficiency. Selected teams will receive mentorship and technical guidance from energy and communication experts, as well as implementation support to bring their campaigns to life on digital platforms.
Up to five teams will be selected for the implementation phase following the evaluation of submitted concept notes. Finalists will present their campaign results at the award ceremony in Hanoi, expected to take place in December 2026. Winning teams will receive prizes of up to VND30 million.
Viet Nam’s journey toward a sustainable energy future and its commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 will depend not only on policy and technology, but also on the active engagement of its young generation. As innovators, communicators, and future leaders, young people have a vital role to play in raising awareness, inspiring action, and promoting more sustainable lifestyles. By empowering youth to lead conversations on clean energy, energy efficiency, and climate action, the EU-supported competition is expected to contribute to a greener, more resilient future for Viet Nam.
An online information session will be held on 28 July 2026 to answer questions and provide further guidance for interested participants.
