(Ha Noi) – Applications are now open for a first-of-its-kind Accelerator program for energy efficiency in Viet Nam.
The Accelerator program is part of the Accelerating Innovative Start-ups for Energy Efficiency (AIS4EE) project, funded by the European Union (EU) within the framework of EU-Viet Nam Sustainable Energy Transition Program, hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), co-funded and implemented by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). Under the AIS4EE project, the Accelerator program is organized by Touchstone Partners, an early-stage venture capital firm in Viet Nam.
Dedicated to fostering innovation in energy efficiency, the Accelerator program focuses on attracting investments in cutting-edge solutions for energy efficiency in the industry, transportation, and green building sectors.
Selected teams will undergo a 9-week training program led by experienced experts, mentors in the start-up ecosystem and energy efficiency space.
The program’s total prize pool amounts to 35,000 USD for the three best start-ups and 10,000 USD for 3 best youth teams. In addition, teams joining will secure the opportunity to join national and international pitching events to call for investments of up to 1 million USD from Touchstone Partners, and from strategic venture capital partners.
The AIS4EE’s Acceleration program consists of two components:
- The first component is designed for start-ups (between pre-seed to seed stage) with a minimum viable product centered on energy efficiency solutions for the industry, construction and transportation in Viet Nam. Participants must be start-ups registered in Viet Nam or start-ups registered overseas with plans to operate in Viet Nam. This component will equip startups with the essential skills and knowledge for successful entry into Viet Nam’s energy efficiency market.
- The second component is tailored for students aged 15 to 25 with innovative ideas in energy saving and efficient solutions with relevance to Viet Nam’s context.
By promoting investment in energy efficiency projects, the program aims to support the National Program on Energy Efficiency and Conservation for the 2019-2030 period (VNEEP 3), aiming to achieve 8-10% savings in total national energy consumption by 2030 and contribute to Viet Nam’s net-zero ambitions.
Applications for the AIS4EE’s Accelerator program can be submitted via the online portal at https://ais4ee.vn before 09:00 AM (GMT+7) on September 25, 2024.
